Day 1 Quito - City Tour - Otavalo
Visit Quito's Historic Center, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. See a multitude of churches that speak to the colonial era. The Church of the Society of Jesus (La Compañía de Jesús) is one of the most representative and Baroque in style. Also visit the Government Palace and the Plaza Grande.In the afternoon, we travel to Otavalo in our private transport.
Day 2 Otavalo – Cuicocha - Peguche – Otavalo
We depart early in the morning to hike along the rim of the Cuicocha Volcano crater. Inside, there is a lagoon and two islands rich in flora and fauna. The hike takes 3 to 4 hours, during which we can observe orchids and cloud forest. The highest point will be 3,500 meters.
In the afternoon, we will visit Peguche, a town known for its music and textiles.
Day 3 Otavalo - Market - Quito
Visit the Otavalo market. Saturday is the largest market day, with three sections: one for animals, one for fruits and vegetables, and one for handcrafted textiles. During the week, the poncho market is the main artisan market. This will be a rest day. After lunch, return to Quito.
Day 4 Quito - Guagua Pichincha (4780m) - Machachi
We depart early in the morning to hike to Guagua Pichincha, an acclimatization hike to its summit, which presents no technical difficulties. Afterward, we continue to Machachi, where we spend the night in a family-run hostel.
4-5 hours of hiking, 600m elevation gain.
Day 5 Machachi - Cotopaxi National Park - Lasso
After an hour's drive, we arrive at the entrance to Cotopaxi National Park. We continue to the parking area at 4650m and begin our hike to the refuge. We take a break and then continue to the glacier, approximately 500 meters, without any technical difficulties. On the way back by car, we'll stop at Limpiopungo Lagoon at 3800 meters for a hike and bird and plant observation. In the afternoon, a 2-hour transfer to Chucchilan. Dinner and rest at the lodge.
Day 6 Chucchilan - Quilotoa
We begin hiking from the lodge towards Lake Quilotoa, passing through agricultural villages and the Grand Canyon. After 5-6 hours, we'll reach the crater rim and continue to the lodge. Dinner and rest at the lodge.
Day 7: Quilotoa - Tigua
We hike from the lodge for an hour to the crater rim, then descend into the Zumbahua Canyon, passing through breathtaking landscapes where we'll truly see Ecuador in its natural state.
5-6 hours of hiking, 400 meters of descent and 300 meters of ascent.
In the afternoon, transfer to Baños. Dinner and rest at the hotel.
Day 8 Baños – El Triunfo
We depart from Baños very early and our hike begins on the Merchants' Route. We'll hike for 4-5 hours along the edge of Llanganates National Park, observing orchids and typical birds of the area. In the afternoon, we'll share the tasks of a local farm with a family.
Day 9 El Triunfo - Llanganates National Park - Baños
We depart in our transport to Llanganates National Park, where we'll hike through the cloud forest, passing historical sites and incredible landscapes. This hike will take 6-7 hours.
Day 10 Baños
Baños is known as the city of extreme sports, offering activities such as paragliding, canyoning, rafting, zip-lining, hiking, thermal pools, massages, etc. There's also the possibility of practicing an extreme sport and visiting waterfalls.
Day 11 Baños - Chimborazo - Riobamba
We depart in our private transport to the Chimborazo Reserve to hike to the Whymper Needles (5300 m). This hike presents no technical difficulties, and we will enjoy a unique landscape and the Whymper Refuge. In the afternoon, we return to Riobamba.
Day 12 Riobamba - Cotopaxi - Quito
On our return route to Quito, we will pass through Cotopaxi National Park, hike to the José Ribas Refuge, hike to Limpopungo Lagoon for birdwatching, and then return to Quito.
Day 13 Quito - Airport
